The Gender Learning Initiative started its work in February 2011. Through Gender mainstreaming you can assure that all participants – men and women – benefit equally from your courses. Therefore, you can benefit from diversity and implement Gender Mainstreaming as a tool for Effective Capacity Development. It allows for a wider range of experiences and perspectives to enrich the learning environment. If you want your workshop to be effective, gender mainstreaming is not simply an add-on, but a must! That is why the group’s long-term vision is to improve the quality of gender expertise in all member organisations through gender mainstreaming processes at management, core business and programs, and support level. The group’s work covers two main thematic areas, first, the strengthening of processes and creation of models to improve the quality of the transfer of gender expertise and the strengthening of gender equality in mainstream trainings.

Gender Online Trainings

by Rahel Hürzeler -

Dear colleagues

My name is Rahel Huerzeler, I'm working for the Swiss NGO HEKS/EPER. We are looking for a online introduction in gender mainstreaming for our staff and local partner organisations around the world. I would like to know if you may recommend online courses / webinars that focus on gender mainstreaming / gender responsive PCM.

I'm looking forward to your recommendations!

Many thanks and kind regards,

Rahel

Gender-based violence and Call to Action

by Natasa Adlesic Barba -

My discussion topic is in relation to Slovenia's commitments to Call to Action (CtA). We have committed ourselves to improve the knowledge of our humanitarian and development actors (NGOs, implementing agencies, other) about the gender-based violence (GBV).

Since we are organising a workshop for all those attending the international missions in the following months, in November, we thought that including GBV and CtA would be a nice way to upgrade the programme as well as to complement our activities within the CtA.

The part on GBV would last one (rather short) session of 1 - 1.5h. Ideally, we would make a combination of a webinar/international speaker presenting the outline of GBV and the CtA and a national speaker presenting lessons from the ground.

My question is: are there any existing webinar on GBV that you might have come across or any international speakers that would be willing to have a short presentation on webex (or any other means of communication). I would very much appreciate your assistance at this point.
